Lady Cat Volleyball Defeats Mount Aloysius in Five Games

Pitt Johnstown freshman middle hitter Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) had nine kills and eight blocks to lead Head Coach Linda Renzi's Lady Cat volleyball team to a five-game victory over visiting Mount Aloysius College, Wednesday night in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats improved to 11-8 on the season.
After winning the first two games 30-25 and 30-17, Pitt Johnstown looked for the sweep in game three. However, the Mounties stormed back to win games three and four, 30-26 and 30-20. In the night's final game, Pitt Johnstown secured the victory with a 15-13 win.
Along with Lasut's efforts, sophomore middle hitter Casey Jo Ritenour (Latrobe, Pa.) had nine digs, while sophomore setter Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) had 39 set assists and senior defensive specialist Ashley Brant (Johnstown, Pa.) tallied 29 digs.
With the loss, Mount Aloysius dropped to 13-12 on the year.
The Lady Cats travel to Lycoming College for a tri-match with Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, before returning home to host the University of Charleston (WV) on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
