10/16/2006

Head Coach Linda Renzi's Lady Cat volleyball team was unable to overcome a very powerfall University of Charleston (WV) team and suffered a three-games-to-none loss Monday night in the Sports Center. With the loss, Pitt Johnstown fell to 11-11 on the season.
The Lady Cats battled, but the Golden Eagles dealt Pitt Johnstown a 30-25, 30-23, 30-22 setback.
Pitt Johnstown freshman middle hitter Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) had 10 kills and four service aces, while senior outside hitter Abbey Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added eight kills. Coach Renzi also got 21 set assists from sophomore setter Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) and 16 digs from freshman outside hitter Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.).
Charleston improved to 22-6 with the sweep.
The Lady Cats travel to Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday and to Salem International (WV) University on Friday, before returning home to host Bethany (WV) College on Monday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
