Lady Cat Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win Over Davis & Elkins on Senior Night

Head Coach Linda Renzi's Lady Cat volleyball team made the 2006 Senior Night a good one with a three-games-to-one victory over Davis & Elkins (WV) College, Thursday night in the Sports Center. Senior outside hitter Abbey Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had 17 kills to lead Pitt Johnstown in the final home match of her career. The Lady Cats have won four straight matches and improved to 15-11.
Pitt Johnsotwn defeated the Senators, 30-24, in the opening game, but suffered a close, 28-30, loss in game two. However, the Lady Cats went on to win the next two games, 30-23 and 30-22, to secure the victory.
Along with Hrescak's 17 kills, sophomore middle hitter Casey Jo Ritenour (Latrobe, Pa.) had 10 blocks. Senior Sarah Davision (Grove City, Pa.) added 32 set assists, while freshman outside hitter Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) collected 21 digs.
With the loss, Davis & Elkins slipped to 9-25 on the season.
Prior to Thursday's match, Coach Renzi and the Pitt Johnstown athletic department recognized seniors Ashley Brant (Johnstown, Pa.), Erin Sines (Meyersdale, Pa.), Kara Grafton (Ford City, Pa.), Davison and Hrescak.
The Lady Cats travel toMount Aloysius College for a tri-match with Lake Erie College on Saturday, before finishing the 2006 season at Chatham College on Monday.
