Volleyball Cruises to Home Sweep Over Mount Aloysius

Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had team-highs of nine kills and 11 digs to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a non-conference sweep over visiting Mount Aloysius College, Monday night in the Sports Center. With the victory, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 18-10 on the season.
The Lady Cats defeated Mount Aloysius 25-9, 25-11 and 25-17.
Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had six kills, one block solo and two block assists, while Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) and Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) each had five kills. Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) collected 18 set assists, and Taylor King (York, Pa.) added eight assists. Head coach Linda Renzi also got 10 digs from Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and nine digs apiece from Katie Shadron (Ligonier, Pa.) and Larrew in the victory.
With the loss, Mount Aloysius fell to 8-13 on the year.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps up the 2008 home schedule with WVIAC matches against Concord (WV) University on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Bluefield State (WV) College on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the Sports Center. Prior to Saturday's match, the Lady Cats will recognize this year's seniors Julie Humble, Kayla Lape, Merissa Larrew and Katie Shadron.
