Lady Cat Volleyball Sweeps U.D.C. in Sports Center

Sophomore outside hitter Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) had seven kills, six digs and one block assist to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 30-19, 30-22, 30-27 non-conference sweep over the University of the District of Columbia, Sunday afternoon in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats improved to 10-11 on the year.
Along with Gearhart, sophomore Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) had six kills and one block assist, and junior Casey JoRitenour (Latrobe, Pa.) added five kills, one block solo and two block assists. Head Coach Linda Renzi also got four kills and a pair of block assists from sophomore Megan Lasut (Central City, Pa.) and 28 assists from freshman Taylor King (York, Pa.) in the victory.
With the loss, the Lady Firebirds dropped to 9-10 on the season.
The Lady Cats travel to Mount Aloysius College for a non-conference match on Monday and to West Virginia Wesleyan College for a WVIAC match on Friday, before hosting it's final home match of the 2007 regular season against Salem International (WV) University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
