Jessica Zapf Named WVIAC Co-Player of the Week

For the second straight week, a Lady Cat basketball player was named West Virginia Intercollegiate (WVIAC) Co-Player of the Week when the honor was released on Wednesday. Last week it was Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.), and this week senior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) shared this week's Player of the Week honor with Concord (WV) University's Samm Nester.
Zapf, who will enter Thursday's game at Columbia Union (MD) College with 985 career points, led Pitt Johnstown to a 69-63 win at Indiana University (PA) last week. Zapf scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked four shots and dished out three assists in the victory.
Pitt Johnstown, 8-3 on the season, has won five straight games.
Nester, a a junior forward, averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in leading the Lady Lions to wins over Clarion University and Slippery Rock University.
The Lady Cats travel to Columbia Union on Thursday, before returning home to host Alumni Day on Saturday against Concord (WV) University as part of a doubleheader with the Mountain Cat men's basketball team. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 3:00 p.m., before the men play at 5:00 p.m.
