01/02/2007

Lady Cat senior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) has been named West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in leading Head Coach Jodi Gault's team to a championship at last weekend's Cummings Trophies & Engraving Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat Tournament.
Krischer, a graduate of Richland High School, shares the weekly honor with West Liberty State (WV) College's Lena Kalvan. Kalvan, a senior forward for the Hilltoppers, averaged 26.5 points and 9.0 rebounds to help West Liberty State split a pair of contests at the Edinboro University Classic.
Krischer, the Most Valuable Player of the Mountain Cat Tournament, scored 23 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out a game-high six assists in Friday's opening round, 71-60, victory over Daemen (NY) College. Krisher followed that performance with 20 points, six rebounds and six more assists in Saturday's, 62-50, win in the championship game over Bloomfield (NJ) College.
Pitt Johnstown, 7-3 on the season, has won four straight games.
The Lady Cats travel to Indiana University (PA) on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home game on Saturday, January 13 against Concord (WV) University as part of a doubleheader with the Mountain Cat men's basketball team. The Lady Cats will tip-off at 3:00 p.m., before the men play at 5:00 p.m.
