Track Places Sixth at WVIAC Championships

Stephanie Szczur (Johnstown, Pa.) finished fourth in the Javelin to lead a group of eight Lady Cats to a sixth-place finish at this weekend's 2010 WVIAC Championships in Wheeling, W Va. West Virginia Wesleyan College won the team competition with 216 points.
Szczur (Johnstown, Pa.) placed fourth in the Javelin with a throw of 35.38 meters in the finals, while Stacy Goode (Pleasant Plain, OH) placed seventh (28.96 meters) and Mallory Grey (Washington, Pa.) finished eighth.
In addition, Ashley Minemyer (Johnstown, Pa.) broke the school record and placed fifth in the Pole Vault (2.85 meters), and Alexis Petrosky (Natrona Heights, Pa.) placed fifth in the Triple Jump )10.28 meters) and ninth in the Long Jump (4.61 meters). Lindsey Roessler (Chalfont, Pa.) finished eighth in the 1500 Meter Run (5:09.80).
Head Coach Jim Herlinger's 4x100m Relay Team of Kori Zablotsky (Wapwallopen, Pa.), Szczur and Kelly and Stacy Goode finished fifth with a time of 52.53. The 4x400 Meter Relay Team of Zablotsky, Roessler and Stacy and Kelly Goode also broke the school record and placed sixth at 4:10.43.
West Virginia Wesleyan won the conference championship with 216 points. Seton Hill University (146 points), Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University (131 points), Concord (WV) University (87.5 points), Glenville State (WV) College (47 points), Pitt-Johnstown (10,5 points), University of Charleston (WV) (6.0 points) and West Liberty (WV) University (6.0 points) rounded out the eight-team field.
