Women's Track Eighth at WVIAC Championships

Stephanie Szczur (Johnstown, Pa.) finished fifth in the javelin, and the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays teams placed fourth and fifth, respectively, to lead the Lady Cat track and field team to an eighth-place finish at this weekend's season-ending 2011 WVIAC Championships in Wheeling, W.Va. Seton Hill University won the team title with 179.75 points in the nine-team field.
Szczur's throw of 32.23 meters in the javelin finals was good enough for fifth-place, while Mallory Grey (Washington, Pa.) placed ninth in the same event (29.61 meters). Also in the field events, Erika Patrick Munson, Pa.) earned a seventh-place finish in the pole vault at 2.89 meters.
On the track, Kelsey Parfitt (Strongstown, Pa.) was seventh in the 400-meter dash (62.26), and Lindsey Roessler (Chalfont, Pa.) was 11th in the 1,500-meter runs (5:22.98).
The Lady Cat 4x100-meter relay team of Kori Zablotsky (Wapwallopen, Pa.), Szczur, Parfitt, and Kelly Goode (Cincinnati, OH) finished fourth at 52.73, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Zablotsky, Szczur, Stacy Goode (Cincinnati, OH), and Kelly Goode placed fifth with a time of 4:16.62.
Seton Hill took the team title with 179.75 points. West Virginia Wesleyan College was second with 159.25 points, while Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University (134 points), Concord (WV) University (84 points), and Glenville State (WV) College (42 points) finished third through fifth. West Liberty (WV) University (20 points), University of Charleston (WV) (20 points), PITT-JOHNSTOWN (8 points), and Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College (1 point) rounded out the nine-team field.
