Taylor Hrescak Second-Team All-WVIAC Volleyball; Beth Kendera on All-Freshmen Team

Lady Cat volleyball standout Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) earned Second-Team All-WVIAC honors, while Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) was named to the conference's All-Freshmen Team when this year's awards voted on by the league's coaches were released on Friday. Hrescak, a senior outside hitter, led Pitt-Johnstown in kills and kills per set. Hrescak was also second on the team in digs and third in service aces. Kendera joined Head Coach Linda Renzi's starting line-up as a true freshman and led the Lady Cats in blocks. Her 1.05 blocks per set currently rank 42nd in NCAA Division II.
Wheeling Jesuit senior libero Laura O'Reilly was the Player of the Year. Standout middle blocker Jenna Pew took Freshman of the Year honors, and Christy Benner was selected as the Coach of the Year by her peers.
O'Reilly, a San Francisco, CA senior, has played a key role as Wheeling Jesuit finished the regular season with a 29-4 mark. Her 4.65 digs per set rank third in the conference. She also ranks among the league leaders with 28 service aces.
Pew leads the WVIAC in hitting percentage at .385. The four-time WVIAC Player of the Week also tops the conference with 1.30 blocks per set. Additionally, the Marshallville, Ohio native is fifth among league players with 43 service aces.
Benner has led Wheeling Jesuit to a No. 24 national ranking during her ninth season. She has a built a 266-92 record, including a 142-4 mark in WVIAC regular season action after this season's 14-0 mark. The Cardinals did not lose a set during any of those league victories. She previously earned WVIAC Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and 2004.
