Five Mountain Cat Wrestlers Earn All-American Honors at 2007 National Tournament

Five Pitt Johnstown wrestlers earned All-American honors, including Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) and Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) (Carrolltown, Pa.) who both placed fourth, at Saturday's Division II National Wrestling Tournament at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Derrek Bosso (125 lbs.) (Pequea, Pa.) finished the tournment with a 3-3 record and took a 6th place finish after being defeated by Chris Neidermeier (Belmont-Abbey (NC) College) in a 3-1 decision in the 5th place bout. Bosso's All-American honor this year became his first.
Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.) achieved a 5th place finish by earning a 3-2 decision over Andy Uhl (University of Findlay (OH). Reasy finished the tournament with a 4-2 record and earned his second consecutive All-American honor after his 6th place finish in the National Tournament last year.
Eli Garshnick (174 lbs.) (Armagh, Pa.) pinned Matt Weingart (Chadron State (NE) College) 55 seconds into the 5th place bout for Pitt Johnstown. Garshnick finished the tournament with a 4-2 record and earned his second All-American honor after a 6th place finish in 2005.
Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) suffered a 3-2 decision loss in the third place bout to Jared Hess (Central Oklahoma University) to place fourth. Corcetti finished with a record of 4-2 and earned his third All-American honor with previous places of 2nd and 4th.
Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) increased his 2006 National Qualifier achievement into a 2007 All-American. Fowler took a 4th place finish after Nate Buys (Augustana College) defeated him in a 8-0 major decision. Fowler finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.
Red-shirt freshman Shane Valko (141 lbs.) (Windber, Pa.), senior Joe Strittmatter (157 lbs.) (Ebensburg, Pa.) and Chris Dempsey (HWT.) (Sewickley, Pa.) competed, but did not place in the tournament.
Central Oklahoma won the Division II National Champsionship with 124.5 points. Nebraska-Kearney took second with 108.5 points, followed by Nebraska-Omaha (67.5 pts.), Minnesota State-Mankato (63.0 pts.), Adams State (58.5 pts.), Chadron State (58.0 pts.), Pitt-Johnstown (56.5 pts.), Upper Iowa (51.5 pts.), Augustana College (48.5 pts.) and Western State (46.5 pts.) to round out the top ten.
