Volleyball Splits Pair at Susquehanna Classic
10/06/12...Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) combined to get 36 kills, and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) had 25 kills to help the Lady Catvolleyball team split a pair of matches at Saturday's Susquehanna University Crusader Classic. Pitt-Johntown defeated Susquehanna, 3-1, but suffered a 3-2 loss to Catholic (DC) University. The Lady Cats are now 9-5.

In the opener, the Lady Cats dealt Susquehanna a 26-24, 25-20, 24-26 25-20 loss.

Schmidt finished with a match-high 20 kills, 13 digs, and a block solo. Kendera had 10 kills, a block solo and two block assists, while Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) collectd 10 kills and three digs.

Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) had 29 set assists, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped in 22 assists. Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) (16 digs) ended with a team-high 16 digs.
Pitt-Johnstown wrapped up the Susquehanna Classic with a tough 22-25, 27-25, 17-25, 27-25, 8-15 loss to Catholic.

Schmidt added 16 more kills and 26 more digs, while Kendera tallied 15 kills, two block solos. and seven block assists.

Pitt-Johnstown also got 25 assists from Oakes and 21 kills from Petrilla. Kohler had 36 digs in the loss.

The Lady Cats continue a stretch of six straight road matches at Seton Hill University on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home match on Tuesday, October 23 when Point Park University visits the Sports Center for a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
