Matt Palo scored a career-high 21 points to help the Mountain Cats build a 28-point second half lead on their way to a lopsided 83-61 PSAC victory over Seton Hill University, Saturday evening in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 4-3 overall and evened its record in conference-play at 2-2.

Seton Hill tried to get back in it and narrowed the gap to 29-21 on a Noah Davis lay-up and free-throw, but it was all Pitt-Johnstown the rest of the half.

The Mountain Cats outscored the Griffins 13-6 over the final seven minutes to build a 15-point halftime lead. Two of Palo's 11 first half points extended it to 16 points, before Leahey followed with another 3-pointer to give Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead of the half at 42-25 with 2:05 left.

Seton Hill got a pair of free-throws from David Winsor with under a minute to play to cut it to 42-27 at the break.

Palo's basket four minutes into the second half matched Pitt-Johnstown largest lead of the first half of 17, and
Ian Vescovi extended it to 21 at 55-34 with 14 minutes to play.

After Nebojsa Stanojevic's bucket at 11 minutes got the Griffins to within 16, the Mountain Cats quickly rebuilt it 20 23 at 66-43 on a driving lay-up from
Rasaun Mosley and a 3-pointer from
Jake Laravie.

Pitt-Johnstown's lead ballooned to as many as 28 on two
Dale Clancy free-throws at 3:42, before the Mountain Cats cruised to the 22-point win.

Palo's 21 points on 10-14 shooting and five rebounds led four Mountain Cats who scored in double figures. Clancy and Leahey each scored 11 points, and Vescovi scored 10 points. Pitt-Johnstown also got seven points from Laravie and six from Mosley.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 58.6% (34-48), including 61% in the second half. The Mountain Cats were also 6-13 from behind the 3-point line and 9-14 from the free-throw line. Seton Hill shot 50% from the floor, 4-9 from 3-point range, and 15-25 from the charity stripe.

Davis led Seton Hill with points, while Trevor Blondin and Winsor each scored 10 points for the Griffins, who dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the PSAC.

The Mountain Cats will break for Finals Week then host a non-conference game against Carlow University on Saturday at 2 p.m. Pitt-Johnstown will then host PSAC Crossover doubleheaders with the Lady Cats Cats against Lock Haven University on December 16 and Bloomsburg University on December 17. Both doubleheaders will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
