Katie Fischer's 3-pointer as time expired tied it for Mercyhurst University, but
Nicole Carman scored five of her game-high 23 points to start the overtime period and lead the Lady Cats to a 66-62 PSAC victory to close out the regular season, Wednesday night in Erie. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 10-16 overall and 6-10 in the PSAC West.

The Lady Cats will open-up the 2014 PSAC Tournament on Saturday at either California University (PA) or at Indiana University (PA) at a time to be determined.

Alayna White's lay-up gave Mercyhurst a six-point lead 6:33 into the game, but Pitt-Johnstown scored the next eight to go in front 16-14 on back-to –back 3-pointers from
Leah Hansen and Carman.

It remained close the rest of the half, but the Lakers were able to turn a one-point advantage with 1:55 remaining into a 32-25 halftime lead by outscoring Pitt-Johnstown 6-0 the rest of the way.

Mercyhurst maintained the momentum and extended the 6-0 run that closed the first half to 20-6 over the first seven minutes of the second half to open-up a 46-31 lead on an Adele Campbell 3-pointer.

The Lakers were still in front by 15 with 9:39 left, before Pitt-Johnstown stormed back with a 22-4 run to regain the lead by three at 55-52 on two
Kayla DeCriscio free-throws with eight seconds.

Mercyhurst, which was held scoreless for the last seven minutes, got a 3-pointer from Katie Fischer as time expired to knot it at 55 and force overtime.

A pair of free-throws and a 3-pointer from Carman to open the overtime put Pitt-Johnstown up by five.

The Lakers got it down to 64-62 on another basket from White with 15 seconds on the clock, but
Dominique Smith hit two free-throws with six seconds remaining that sealed the win.

Carman led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds. Hansen had 13 points, and
Inaya Stephenson added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench in the victory.

Johnson is in 18
th-place on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 591, while Carman ranks 28
th on the rebounding list with 482.

Natalie Piaggesi's 13 points led three Mercyhurst players who scored in double figures, while White had nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Lakers, who dropped to 6-20 overall and 4-12 in the PSAC.
