Lady Cats Fall in Season Opener to Goldey-Beacom

Box Score 1794The Lady Cat soccer team opened the 2014 season with a non-conference match against Goldey-Beacom (DE) College on Thursday at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  However, the Lightning notched one goal in each half to deal Pitt-Johnstown a tough 2-0 loss.

Kelsey Vick capitalized on a scramble in the box in the 14th minute to open the scoring to put Goldey-Beacom up 1-0 at the half. 

The Lightning added an insurance goal 12 minutes into the second half when Tanner Turner-Rush assisted Megan Harvis with a long pass that resulted in a breakaway.

Timi Shiock faced 13 shots and made three saves, but suffered the loss in goal for the Lady Cats. Marie Goodman got the shutout in goal for Goldey-Beacom after seeing 13 Pitt-Johnstown shots and making six saves. 

Goldey-Beacom improved to 1-0-0 overall. 

Pitt-Johnstown will travel to Seton Hill University on Saturday to open PSAC conference-play, before returning home to host another conference match Indiana University (PA) on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
