A pair of goals netted by Alaina Curry led Kutztown University to a 4-0 conference victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Tuesday afternoon as the Lady Cats hosted their final game of the season at the Pitt-Johnstown soccer field. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 0-16-1 overall and 0-15-1 in conference-play.
Curry gave the Golden Bears an early 1-0 lead off of a direct kick taken by Morgan Staley in the 10
th minute of play.
Before the end of the first half, Katie Jaxheimer netted a goal from the top corner of the box past Pitt-Johnstown keeper
Leigh Appolonia to improve to a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Cats were unable to get past the Golden Bears as Curry struck again in the 77
th minute after finishing a rebound from Brooke May. Kutztown secured the win with a fourth goal in the final minutes of play from Rachel Rodriguez.
Appolonia suffered the loss in goal for the Lady Cats after seeing 25 shots and making nine saves.
Imani Taylor recorded the shutout win in goal for Kutztown after facing three Pitt-Johnstown shots and making two saves. The Golden Bears are now 11-4-1 overall and 11-4-0 in the PSAC.
The Lady Cats will travel to Goldey-Beacom (DE) College for a non-conference match Saturday at 2:00 p.m., to close their 2015 season. Â
