Jasmine Harper had a team-high 21 points and four steals for Pitt-Johnstown, but the Lady Cats fell victim to a buzzer-beating mid-range jumper by Miki Glenn to give California University (Pa.) a 65-63 victory Wednesday inside the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center.

The game was the home opener for Pitt-Johnstown and the PSAC opener for both teams. The Lady Cats fall to 1-2 overall, 0-1 in conference play.

Harper, who reached the 1,000-point milestone in her career Nov. 15 against Virginia Union University (Richmond, Va.), now has 1,026 career points and is nine points back of 34
th-place on Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball all-time scoring list.

She also moved up the all-rebound list also. After contributing six rebounds against California, Harper jumped from 18
th-place to sole possession of 16
th-place with 615 career rebounds.

Pitt-Johnstown got out to a 25-16 lead after one quarter of play. The team lost the lead by halftime after scoring only nine points in the second, and could not overcome a 12-point deficit in the third quarter, but tied the game several times throughout the last quarter.

The game's first points came when
Leah Hansen hit a three-pointer at the 9:14 mark in the first quarter to give the Lady Cats the game's first advantage, 3-0.
Ana Hollen drained a three-point shot at 6:47 to make it a 10-3 Pitt-Johnstown lead.

Hollen ended the game with nine points and five rebounds in her first home game as a Lady Cat. Hansen added eight points and a game-high eight assists.

Hollen's shot helped the Lady Cats go on a 7-point run until Morgan Jennings came thru with a layup for the Vulcans to cut their deficit to 12-5.

California made up some more ground after Miki Glenn drained a shot from beyond the arc to cut the lead to two points once again. Pitt-Johnstown, however, ended the quarter with the momentum, scoring 11 of the last 15 points and went into the second quarter with a 25-16 lead.

The Lady Cats saw their lead slip away in the second as California went on a 14-5 run of their own to tie the game at 30 points each to due Martin hitting another jump shot at 4:21. The Vulcans captured the lead for first time when Glenn made a layup with 3:46 remaining in the half.

A pair of successful free throws from Paige Wright helped the Vulcans go up by three with 1:49 remaining in the half after Pitt-Johnstown was able to tie the game twice after losing their advantage.

California ended the half on top, 41-34 when Martin made a layup as time expired. The Vulcans maintained the lead in the third quarter, building three points onto it largely due to six third-quarter points from Barrett.

Hollen made a layup to end the third and brought the Lady Cats within 10 points, trailing 55-45. Pitt-Johnstown responded in the last quarter and cut the Vulcan advantage to four points after a pair of free throws from Harper and a pair of layups in the paint from
Olivia McCabe who was nearly unstoppable in the game's last eight minutes.

McCabe managed to collect eight points and five rebounds down the stretch. The Lady Cats eventually tied the game at 57 when Harper made a layup with 4:32 remaining in the game.

California's offense seemed to have an answer for every Pitt-Johnstown point in the last four minutes of the game. The Lady Cats tied the game at 59, and then at 61 points before Glenn drained a last second jump shot to end the game.

Glenn had a game-high 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds for the Vulcans who advance to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.

The Lady Cats will host PSAC doubleheaders with the Mountain Cats against #25 West Chester University on Saturday and Cheyney University on Sunday. Both doubleheaders are to be played at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center.Â
