Olivia McCabe recorded a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 75-57 victory over Cheyney University in a PSAC crossover matchup Sunday inside the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center.

Olivia Rizzo was a big contributor for the Lady Cats also, totaling 17 points and three steals, the team advanced to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win.

Pitt-Johnstown got on the board first when
Agnese Aramina stole an inbound pass and proceeded to make a layup on the fast break with an assist from
Ana Hollen 1:04 into the game. The team got to a 7-2 lead after a three-point shot from Rizzo with over eight minutes to go in the first quarter.

Cheyney kept the game close in the first quarter, they even took the lead after a shot from beyond the arc from Shania Stamper gave the Wolves a 10-8 lead midway through the quarter. UPJ went on a 9-1 run to follow and was capped off by a layup from
Victoria Moreland.

The Wolves were able to cut the lead to two points and trail 17-15 on a layup from Adrienne Small as time expired in the opening period. Pitt-Johnstown's defense was able to hold Cheyney to just six second quarter points that proved to make the difference in the game.

The Lady Cats started the second period with a 15-3 run that featured a steal and breakaway layup from Rizzo and seven points from McCabe. The team built a 39-21 lead going into halftime after Moreland made a three-pointer.

McCabe made a free throw halfway through the third quarter to put the Lady Cats up 44-24. Cheyney went on to score five straight points led by a three-pointer from Aerie DeJesus to cut the lead to 15 points. Pitt-Johnstown would go on to score nine more third quarter points to end the period with a 53-37 advantage over the Wolves.

Rizzo drained five three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Lady Cats keep their lead and secure their third victory of the season. Pitt-Johnstown finished the game shooting 50% from beyond the arc, going 6-for-12 in three-point field goal attempts in both halfs.

Cheyney falls to 0-3 overall and in PSAC play with the loss despite 14 points from DeJesus and 10 points each from Small and Kyra Hines-Allen.

The Lady Cats are to host a non-conference game against Salem (W. Va.) International University Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. inside the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center, before starting a stretch of five consecutive road games beginning with PSAC games at Seton Hill University Dec. 1 and Kutztown University Dec. 4.Â
