Ian Vescovi scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Mountain Cats break open a two-half halftime lead in a 71-62 PSAC victory at Seton Hill on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown made it two straight wins and improved to 11-10 overall and 8-9 in conference-play.

In a very close first half, neither team was able to build a lead better than six.

Rich Audu's 3-pointer four minutes in put the Mountain Cats up 10-7, but Seton Hill came right back to match the 3-point lead on two of David Winsor's game-high 24 points three minutes later.

Pitt-Johnstown countered with an 11-2 spurt to go in front by six. A
Jake Laravie 3-pointer made it 19-15, before Vescovi connected on a pair of free-throws with 6:23 left in the half to put the Mountain cats up 21-15.

The Griffins came back to regain the lead 30-29, but
Matt Palo's 3-point at the buzzer gave Pitt-Johnstown a slim 34-32 halftime advantage.

However, the Mountain Cats came out and began to take control in the second half. Vescovi's short jumper extended it to eight, and Audu made a free-throw at the 10:44 mark to push it out to 49-39.

Pitt-Johnstown never let the Griffins get any closer than seven the rest of the way.

The Mountain Cats built the lead to as many as 13 on two Vescovi free-throws with 2:56 to play, then went on to make 7-of-8 eight free-throws, including four by Laravie and two each from
A.J. Leahey in the final 1:20 to seal the victory.

Vescovi finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead three Mountain Cats who scored in double figures. Leahey also had 16 points, while Audu had 10 points.Â
Dale Clancy and Leahey and each scored eight points, and Laravie netted seven points for Pitt-Johnstown in the win.

Vescovi currently ranks eighth on the Mountain Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 605 rebounds. Â Vescovi is also 30 points shy of becoming Pitt-Johnstown's 26
th 1,000-point scorer.

The Mountain Cats ended the day shooting 47.1% (24-51) from the floor and 9-20 from 3-point range. Pitt-Johnstown also hit 14-17 from the free-throw line. Seton Hill was held to 42.0% (21-50) shooting from the field, 5-14 from behind the 3-point line, and 15-20 from the charity stripe.

Windsor had a game-high 24 points, and Noah Davis added 14points off the bench to pace Seton Hill, which fell to 6-16 overall and 5-13 in the PSAC.

The Mountain Cats host to a PSAC doubleheader with the Lady Cats against California University (PA) on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Gannon for another conference game on Saturday.Â
