A late goal in the final minutes of play netted by Delaney Meadows was enough to give Mansfield University a 1-0 PSAC win over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Lady Cats slipped to 0-6-0 overall and 0-6-0 in conference-play.
Danielle Lentz opened multiple scoring opportunities for the Mountaineers as Mansfield gained possession of the ball for a majority of the first half, but none could get past Pitt-Johnstown keeper
Leigh Appolonia.
The Lady Cats answered with several shots in the beginning of the second half but couldn't find the back of the goal as keeper Rachel Fox kept Mansfield alive in play.
With the clock winding down, Delaney Meadows finished a cross in the box from Kelsey Chapman with just five minutes left of play in the game to give Mansfield a 1-0 lead over
Pitt-Johnstown and secure the win for the Mountaineers.
Appolonia suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after facing 20 shots and making 11 saves.
Fox earned the win in goal for the Mountaineers recording a shutout after seeing 8 shots from Pitt-Johnstown and making 5 saves.
The Lady Cats host a PSAC match against Millersville University on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., before traveling to Indiana University (PA) for a conference match Saturday, and to Edinboro University for a PSAC match Tuesday September 29.
