Halie Parker netted the game winning goal in overtime to lead the Millersville Marauders to a 4-3 PSAC victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Lady Cats fell to 0-7-0 overall and 0-7-0 in conference-play.
Victoria Kramer opened scoring for the Marauders early in the first half with a goal in the 13
th minute of play. Kramer found the back of the net rebounding the ball off of Pitt-Johnstown keeper
Leigh Appolonia after a shot by Halie Parker was saved.
Pitt-Johnstown answered with back to back goals less than a minute apart from
Kaitlyn Eckley before closing out the first half. Eckley shot the ball past Millersville keeper Samantha Wolfe off of a long pass from
Samantha Roberts to tie the game at 1-1 in the 44
th minute.
Shortly after in the 45
th minute, Eckley fired another shot into the goal off of a cross from
Rachel Fleming in the box to capture a 2-1 lead ending the first half.
Millersville tied the game 2-2 in the 67
th minute with a goal from Halie Parker after finishing a cross from Megan Kelley in front of the net. Less than a minute later, Meagan Newmister headed a cross from Savannah Hall past Appolonia in the 68
th minute to regain the lead with three goals.
Kim Bonnett kept the Lady Cats alive after rebounding the ball off of Millersville keeper Samantha Wolfe for a goal in the 72
nd minute to tie the game at 3-3 and end regulation time.
A minute into overtime was all it took for the Marauders to secure a 4-3 win after Halie Parker sent the ball to the top right of the net off of a through ball from Kristin Lepley. Â
Appolonia suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after facing 26 shots and making five saves.
Samantha Wolfe earned the win for the Marauders after seeing 16 shots from Pitt-Johnstown and making four saves. Millersville is now 3-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the PSAC.
The Lady Cats travel to Indiana University (PA) for a conference match Saturday at 1:30 p.m., then travel to Edinboro University for a PSAC match on Tuesday September 29 before returning home to host a conference match against Mercyhurst University on October 3. Â
