A.J. Leahey and
Isaac Vescovi each scored 14 points to help the Mountain Cats race out to a 42-19 halftime lead on their way to a lopsided 93-52 non-conference victory at Carlow University on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown, which got at least two points from all 13 of its players, improved to 12-5.
Leahey's 3-ponter just over nine minutes into the game put the Mountain Cats in front 26-9, before Pitt-Johnstown outscored Carlow 16-10 over the final 10:42 of the first half to build the lead to 42-19 on a pair of
Dale Clancy free-throws.
It was more of the same for Pitt-Johnstown to begin the second half. The Mountain Cats opened the half with a 19-7 run, capped by a
Nate Snodgrass conventional 3-point play and a Vescovi bucket in the paint, to increase the lead to 62-26.
Dom Keyes' lay-up with 49 seconds left gave Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead of the night at 93-48, and the Mountain Cats coasted to the 41-point victory.
Vescovi finished with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds, and Leahey added 14 points and seven rebounds to pace Pitt-Johnstown. Snodgrass had 10 points, and Clancy and
George Prota (5 rebounds) each scored nine points. The Mountain Cats also got eight points from
Jake Laravie and seven points and four assists from
Rich Audu.

Leahey also connected on a pair of 3-pointer to tie him for 10th-place with Dwight Hines (2002-2007) on the Mountain Cat All-Time 3-Point Field Goals List with 141. Leahey is 14 3-pointers shy of tying Paul Byer (2002-2005) for ninth place on the list.
Pitt-Johnstown, which dominated the glass 55-30, ended the night shooting 53.7% (36-67) shooting from the floor, 6-22 from behind the 3-point line, and 15-24 from the free-throw line. The Mountain Cats also held Carlow to just 31.3% (20-64) shooting.
Isaac Fulwood scored a game-high 17 points, and Cole Novotney chipped-in 10 points for Carlow, which fell to 3-15 on the season.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC doubleheader with the Lady Cats against Seton Hill University on Saturday afternoon, before traveling to California University (PA) for another conference game on Wednesday.Â
