Mountain Cats Use 12 3-pointers in 88-67 Win at Millersville

3197Pitt-Johnstown hit nine of its 12 3-pointers in the first half and used a 37-12 run to build a 29-point halftime lead in a lopsided 88-67 PSAC Crossover victory at Millersville on Sunday.  Jake Laravie's 15 points led four Mountain Cat double-digit scorers and a group of nine Mountain Cats who scored six or more points.  Pitt-Johnstown made it three straight victories and improved to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the PSAC.
 
Three-pointers from Nate Snodgrass and Dale Clancy, followed by a basket from Olando King, Jr. gave Pitt-Johnstown a 15-7 lead just over four minutes into the first half.
 
Millersville got a 3-pointer from Tommy Patterson at 12-20 to cut it to 19-15, but the Mountain Cats continued to make its 3-pointers and responded with a 37-12 run over the final 12:20 of the half to extend its lead to 29. 
 
A.J. Leahey hit a 3-pointer, and Jake Laravie knocked down two in a row from long range to make it 30-18.
 
The Mountain Cats weren't done yet.  Levi Masua and Laravie connected for three-pointers that made it 51-25 at 1:30, before Masua made another 3-pointer as time expired to give Pitt-Johnstown a 56-27 advantage.
 
Ricky Mosley scored Millersville's first nine points of the second half to get the Marauders to within 22, but Clancy's 3-pointer sparked a 10-0 Mountain Cat run to extend it to 68-36 at the 13:13 mark.
 
Snodgrass' 3-pointer less than a minute later pushed the lead to 32 at 71-39, and Pitt-Johnstown never allowed Millersville to get any closer than 21 the rest of the way.
 
Along with Laravie 15 points and 4-4 shooting from 3-point range, Clancy had 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists, Masua had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Leahey collected 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Mountain Cats.  Pitt-Johnstown also got nine points, four rebounds and six assists from Snodgrass, nine points from Vescovi, and eight points from King, Jr.    
 
Pitt-Johnstown, which shot 68% from the field in the first half, finished the evening shooting 55.7% (34-61).  The Mountain Cats, who held a 39-19 advantage in rebounding, were also 12-25 from behind the 3-point line and 3-11 from the free-throw line.  Millersville shot 40.9% (18-44) from the floor, 10-27 from 3-point range, and 21-26 from the charity stripe.
 
Shawn Williams tallied a game-high 21 points, while Mosely a]had 16 points, and Patterson added 11 points for the Marauders, who dropped their 10th consecutive game and fell to 2-11 overall and 2-7 in conference-play.
 
The Mountain Cats closed out a stretch of seven straight road games and will return home to host three straight PSAC doubleheaders with the Lady Cats, beginning with Shippensburg on Wednesday.  The Lady Cats will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
