Kendall Mahony finished with a match-high 11 kills and a pair of service aces to lead the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to its seventh straight victory with a 25-21, 25-13, 25-11 PSAC sweep over Kutztown University, Friday night in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats improved to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in the PSAC Central Division.

Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 6-2 lead on
Maura Brehl's service ace, then pushed it out to 13-7 on Brehl's kill and
Allison Mondorff's ace. Kutztown got back in it and used kill a from Brittney Moyer to cut it 22-21, but the Lady Cats scored the final three points, including a kill by
Marissa Erminio and a block by
Anna Johns and Brehl, to take the opening set 25-21.

In the second Pitt-Johnstown scored the first five points, but the Golden Bears got to within one at 6-5 a Lady Cat attack error. However, Pitt-Johnstown went on a 12-1 run to break it open. Seven straight points made it 13-5 on Erminio's kill and a Kutztown error, before Mahony's kill increased it to 18-6.  The Golden Bears were only able to get as close a 10 the rest of the way, and Pitt-Johnstown finished out the 25-13 win on another kill from Brehl.

It was more of the same in the final set as the Lady Cats raced out to an 10-2 lead
Noelle Carota's kill and never looked back. The Lady Cats built it to 23-6 on eight straight points off of Mondorff's serve, and wrapped-up the sweep on a Kutztown attack error.

Along with Mahony's effort, Brehl had eight kills and two block assists, and
Cambria Wierman had seven kills, seven digs and two aces to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Erminio also chipped-in five kills and a block solo.

Mondorff collected match-highs with 26 set assists and four aces. Mondorff also had eight digs.Â
Devan Orr led the way with 17 digs, while
Jessica Dillon tallied seven assists.

Kutztown, which fell to 3-16 overall and 0-8 in the PSAC Southeast, was led by Jessica Howe's seven kills and Moyer's five kills.

Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m., before traveling to a non-conference match at defending NCAA Division II National Champion Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Tuesday.
