Sydney Sumner finished with a match-high eight kills, to guide the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-12, 25-13 PSAC sweep over East Stroudsburg University, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats have won eight straight matches and improved to 15-5 overall and 8-1 in the PSAC Central Division.

The Warriors kept the first set close and took a 10-8 led on a kill from Desiree Claxton. Pitt-Johnstown came back with four straight points to retake the lead on
Allison Mondorff's service ace and a kill from
Marissa Erminio. Wierman's kill increased it to 20-16, before Erminio ended the 25-20 win with another kill.

It was all Pitt-Johnstown the rest of the afternoon. Erminio's kill followed by
Maura Brehl's service gave the Lady Cats an 11-4 lead to start the second set. Sumner's kill pushed it out to 16-8 and Pitt-Johnstown went on to outscore East Stroudsburg 9-4 the rest of the way, including getting another kill from Sumner, to finish the 25-12 victory.

The Lady Cats closed out the sweep with a 25-13 win in the final set. Pitt-Johnstown used a 7-2 run, capped by
Cambria Wierman's kill and
Logan McIntosh's ace to double-up the Warriors 14-7. Sumner's kill pushed it out to 23-12, and Wierman's kills finished it off.

Along with Sumner, Wierman collected seven kills, while Brehl had six kills and three aces, and Erminio had six kills and a block to lead a balanced Pitt-Johnstown attack.Â
Kendall Mahony tallied four kills and two blocks, and
Caitlin Vrabel had four kills.

Mondorff had a match-high 21 set assists and two aces, and
Jessica Dillon added 14 assists and four digs for the Lady Cats.Â
Devan Orr led the way with 11 digs.

Courtney Miller had five kills, and Sam Dunphy and Claxton each had four kills to pace East Stroudsburg, which fell to 10-12 overall and 2-7 in the PSAC Southeast Division.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a non-conference match at defending NCAA Division II National Champion Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Tuesday, before traveling to PSAC matches at Shippensburg and Millersville next weekend.
