After
Sam Bahorich tied it with just over a minute left, followed by a pair of scoreless overtime periods, the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team earned its first result with a 1-1 tie at PSAC rival California University (PA), Wednesday night. The Lady Cat are now 0-14-1 overall and 0-13-1 in conference-play.
California (PA) jumped out to an early lead on Riann Grant's goal off of Kira Carberry's through ball four minutes into the match.
That goal stood until Pitt-Johnstown's Bahorich finished a pass from
Kyra Watkins with just 1:03 remaining in regulation to knot it at one and force overtime.
Neither team was able to score in the pair of 10-minute overtime periods.
Leigh Appolonia faced eight California (PA) shots, allowed one goal and made two saves in net for Pitt-Johnstown. Megan Jayes saw 11 Lady Cat shots, surrendered on goal, and made five saves for the Vulcans, who are now 2-9-3 overall and 2-9-3 in the PSAC.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against Gannon on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Kutztown for a conference match on Tuesday.
