Fourteenth-ranked Kutztown University scored four second half goals to break open a one-goal halftime advantage on its way to a 5-0 PSAC victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Tuesday afternoon in Kutztown. The Lady Cats fell to 0-16-1 overall and 0-15-1 in conference-play.
The Golden Bears took an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute on Alaina Curry's goal and held that lead until nine minutes into the second half when Ashley Engler scored from 25 yards out.
Kaylee Kupiec increased Kutztown's lead to 3-0 seven minutes later, before the Golden Bears added insurance goals by Megan Kelly in the 82
nd minute and Hannah Oren in the 86
th minute to set the final at 5-0.
Leigh Appolonia played the first 81 minutes in net for Pitt-Johnstown and surrendered three goals, while making nine saves.
Olivia Shaulis played the remaining nine minutes and made three saves and gave up a pair of goals.
Kutztown, which improved to 14-3-0 overall and 12-3-0 in the PSAC, got a shutout from Imani Taylor. Taylor saw just two Pitt-Johnstown shots and made one save.
Pitt-Johnstown will end the 2016 season with a non-conference, Senior Day match against Goldey-Beacom (DE) College on Saturday at noon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
