Dara Demich's goal 19 minutes into the match was all Slippery Rock needed to hold off the Lady Cat soccer team, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  Pitt-Johnstown fell to 0-11-0 overall and 0-11-0 in conference-play.
 
Less than a minute after Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Leigh Appolonia made a save on Demich's penalty kick, Demich came back to give Slippery Rock a 1-0 lead.  Tess Keeley headed Miranda Gallucci's corner kick to Demich, who found the bottom left corner of the net in the 19^th minute to record the lone tally of the match.
 
The Lady Cats had some chances in the second half, but were not able to score.  Slippery Rock goalkeeper Kylie Downs made a leaping save on Marisa Lizins in the 74^th minute, and Kyra Watkins' chip 41 with seconds left in regulation sailed just over the crossbar.
 
Appolonia took the loss for Pitt-Johnstown after facing 17 Slippery Rock shots and making 11 saves.  Downs secured the shutout victory in net for the Rock, who improved to 7-4-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the PSAC, after seeing nine Lady Cat shots and making four saves.
 
The Lady Cats travel to Lock Haven for a PSAC match on Saturday, before returning home to host a non-conference match against Daemen (NY) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
