California (PA) outscored Pitt-Johnstown by 21 in the second half, including a 16-4 run early in the third quarter to overcome a six-point deficit, on its way to handing the Lady Cat basketball team an 84-66 PSAC loss, Wednesday night in California.Â
Jasmine Harper scored 18 points and
Ana Hollen added 17 points for Pitt-Johnstown, which dropped its fifth straight game and fell to 7-15 overall and 4-12 in the PSAC Western Division.

Pitt-Johnstown got off to a good start. The Lady Cats shot 65% from the field in the first half and held the lead for the entire first quarter. Hollen's 3-pointer put the Lady Cats up 11-6 four minutes in and a Harper lay-up at 5:05 increased it to 15-8.

Two more of Harper's 12 first half points gave Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead of the half at 19-11, before California (PA) closed out the quarter with an 8-1 spurt, capped by Miki Glenn's lay-up as time expired, to get the Vulcans to within one.

Glenn's layup- and free-throw to open the second quarter gave California (PA) its first lead of the night at 22-20.

The Vulcans then made it a two-score lead midway through the quarter, but the Lady Cats outscored California (PA) 13-6 the rest of the way to take a three-point halftime advantage.

Two
Laurel O'Barto free-throws at 2:23 knotted it at 32, and Hollen connected on a jumper with 35 seconds left to give Pitt-Johnstown a 37-34 lead at the break.

Olivia McCabe's offensive rebound and put-back to start the second half extended the Lady Cat lead to 39-34, but the Vulcans answered with a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to regain the lead 50-43 on a Paige Wright 3-pointer.

Pitt-Johnstown was not able to recover. Glenn hit two free-throws with 1:09 left in the third quarter to get the California (PA) lead into double figures, and two late free-throws from Wright pushed it out to 62-49 at the end of the quarter.

The Vulcans continued to build on the lead in the fourth quarter. Emily Suckling's 3-pointer and a Seairra Barrett basket at 5:11 put California (PA) up 76-57.

Another bucket by Suckling gave the Vulcans their largest lead of the night at 78-58 with 3:10 to play, and California (PA) coasted to its fourth consecutive victory.

Harper finished with 18 points and five rebounds, and Hollen had 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists l=to lead Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Jamie Tabon collected 14 points and six rebounds, and O'Barto had seven points and five rebounds.

Harper moved into 19
th-place on the Lady Cat All-time Scoring List with 1,222 points. She is also 12
th on the all-time rebounding list with 716 rebounds.

After shooting 65% in the first half, the Lady Cats end the game shooting 50.9% (28-55) from the floor, but just 1-9 from 3-point range. Pitt-Johnstown, which held a 37-29 advantage on the glass, was also 9-15 from the free-throw line. California (PA) shot 47.8% (33-69) from the field, 4-17 from behind the 3-point line, and 14-20 from the charity stripe.

Glenn had 19 points, six rebounds and 11 assists, and Barrett tallied 19 points to lead five Vulcans who scored in double figures. With the win, California (PA) improved to 15-5 overall and 13-4 in the PSAC West.

The Lady Cats will host celebrate Senior Day with a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Gannon University on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before hosting another conference doubleheader on Wednesday against Edinboro. The Lady Cats will tip-off against the Fighting Scot at 1 p.m. with the men's game starting at 3 p.m.Â
