Marisa Lizins netted her first collegiate goal, but Seton Hill University scored a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes to hand the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team a 3-1 PSAC setback in Thursday season-opener in Greensburg.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the third minute on Emily LoPresti's free kick from the top of the box, but Pitt-Johnstown tied it with just over three minutes left in the half when Lizins found the back of the net over Seton Hill's diving goalkeeper Jessica Neill.
However, Emma Porteous gave Seton Hill the lead for good from 35 yards out in the 75th minute, and Taylor Crupie added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute to set the final at 3-1.
Freshman
Maria Mosquera took the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after surrendering three goals on 24 Seton Hill shots. Mosquera made seven saves. Neill secured the victory after allowing one goal and making three saves on five Pitt-Johnstown shots.
Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2016 home debut with a PSAC match against West Chester University on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Clarion University on Wednesday for another conference match.
