West Chester University broke open a two goal halftime lead by scoring three more in the second half to defeat the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, 5-0, in Saturday's PSAC home-opener at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Lady Cats slipped to 0-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference-play.
 
The Golden Eagles got goals from Erica Hansen in the 16^th minute and Jenny Bail in the 42^nd minute to build a 2-0 halftime advantage.
 
West Chester made it 3-0 in the 57^th minute when Lexi Brown's header found the back of the net behind Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Leigh Appolonia, before the Golden Eagles added two more insurance goals in the 59^th and 62^nd minutes.
 
Appolonia, who faced 32 West Chester shots allowed all five goals and made eight saves.  Alex Srolis and McKenna Mullin combined for the shutout in net for the Golden Eagles after seeing just two Pitt-Johnstown shots.  Neither West Chester goalkeepers had to make a save.
 
The Golden Eagles improved 2-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSAC.
 
The Lady Cats travel to Clarion on Wednesday for a PSAC match, before hosting conference matches at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field against East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and Shippensburg on September 13 at 1:30 p.m.
