Clarion University used a goal in each half to earn a 2-0 PSAC shutout over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Wednesday night in Clarion. With the loss, the Lady Cats slipped to 0-3-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the PSAC.
Clarion took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break on Marina Kelly's goal off of an assist from Charlotte Allen in the 39
th minute, before the Golden Eagles increased it to 2-0 10 minutes into the second half when Alissa Spencer's header found the back of the net behind Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper
Leigh Appolonia.
That would be all Clarion goalkeeper Krista Mosi would need as she earned the shutout and helped the Golden Eagles improve to 1-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the PSAC after facing 12 Pitt-Johnstown shots and making seven saves.
Appolonia suffered the loss in net for Pitt-Johnstown after surrendering both goals on 16 Clarion shots. Appolonia also made six saves.
The Lady Cats will host PSAC matches at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field against fifth-ranked East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and Shippensburg on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
