Alderson-Broaddus (WV) University scored a pair of goals in the first 29 minutes and made them hold up in a 2-0 non-conference victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, Tuesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-11-1 on the season.
Rachel Gaspar's free-kick goal from the top of the box 24 minutes into the match gave the Battlers the early lead.
Alderson-Broaddus added another goal four minutes later when Kennedy Rankin finished Diyonus Walls' long goal kick to increase it to 2-0.
Pitt-Johnstown, which outshot the Battlers 15-8, had some chances, but Walls made seven saves to earn the shutout for Alderson-Broaddus.
Leigh Appolonia made seven saves, but surrendered both goals for Pitt-Johnstown.
The Battlers raised their season record to 2-8-2.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to East Stroudsburg for a PSAC match on Friday, before hosting a conference match against Seton Hill on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
