Matteo Adiletta scored a pair of first half goals to help 22
nd-ranked Millersville University build a three-goal halftime advantage on its way to a 3-0 PSAC shutout over the Mountain Cat soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Millersville. Pitt-Johnstown fell to 0-14-1 overall and 0-10-0 in conference-play.
McClain Smith's goal off of a deflection in the 14
th minute put the Marauders in front, before Adiletta followed with a pair of goals six minutes apart. Adiletta scored from the center of the box in the 28
th minute in the 28
th minute, then finished Ryan Phelps' assist in the 34
th minute to give Millersville a 3-0 halftime lead.
That was all the offense Millersville would need. The Marauder' defense took over and would not allow Pitt-Johnstown to get any offense going on their way to holding the Mountain Cats without a shot.
Nate Kleya took the loss in net for the Mountain Cats. Kleya faced 31 shots, made nine saves, and allowed three goals.
Darren McCauley and Coby Breen combined for the shutout in goal for Millersville, which improved to 12-3-1 overall and 8-2-0 in the PSAC.
The Mountain Cats return home to celebrate Senior Day with a non-conference match against Washington Adventist (MD) University on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before finishing the 2017 season with a PSAC match at Bloomsburg on Saturday.
