
Bloomsburg University netted a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes, then added two more in less than a minute in the second half to defeat the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team, 4-1, Saturday afternoon in Bloomsburg.
Abby LaDuke netted a goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which fell to 1-14-1 overall and 1-12-1 in the PSAC.
It didn't take the Huskies long to jump out to a two-goal advantage. Just six minutes into the match, Rachel Yenney's unassisted goal put Bloomsburg in front 1-0. Four minutes later, Allie Barber finished Yenney's shot that rebounded off of Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper
Maria Mosquera to make it 2-0.
Mosquera and the Mountain Cats were able to hold the Huskies off of the scoreboard for the next 51 minutes until Jessica Supp and Erin Bielski scored goals in a span of 37 seconds to increase Bloomsburg's lead to 4-0.
Less than a minute after to two Bloomsburg goals,
Abby LaDuke answered with her second goal of the season to get Pitt-Johnstown to within three with 28 minutes remaining in regulation.
However, the Mountain Cats could not get any closer.
Mosquera faced 28 Bloomsburg shots, made 10 saves, and allowed all four goals.
Jenna Hawkins and Olivia Schantz shared time in goal for the Huskies. Hawkins played the first 78 minutes, saw four Pitt-Johnstown shots, allowed one goal and did not make a save. Schantz was in the net the final 12 minutes and did not see a shot.
With the win, Bloomsburg moved to 9-4-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the PSAC.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC match at Edinboro on Wednesday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Day and wrap-up the 2017 season with a conference match against No. 4-ranked Kutztown on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
