Shippensburg Uses Two Early Goals in PSAC Win Over Mountain Cats

Shippensburg, PA

4594Shippensburg scored a pair of goals in the first 12 minutes and made them stand up in 2-0 PSAC victory over the Mountain Cat men's soccer team, Saturday evening in Shippensburg.  With the loss, Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 0-9-1 overall and 0-6-0 in conference-play.
 
It didn't take Shippensburg long to open the scoring.  Just 53 seconds into the match, Cole Kropnick finished Jan Striewe's assist to give the Red Raiders the lead.
 
Striewe got his own goal 10 minutes later off of Erik Espinoza's shot that rebounded off of Mountain Cat goalkeeper Nate Kleya.
 
Pitt-Johnstown settled down and held the Red Raiders scoreless the remainder of the match, but managed just five total shots, two of which were saved by Shippensburg goalkeeper Garret Watson.
 
Kleya faced 32 Red Raiders' shots and made 12 saves.
 
With the win, Shippensburg improved to 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-0 in the PSAC.
 
The Mountain Cats travel to a non-conference match at Daemen (NY) on Tuesday, before visiting East Stroudsburg for a PSAC match on Friday.
