
West Chester University jumped out to a two-set lead, before handing the Pitt-Johnstown a 3-sets-to-1 PSAC loss, Saturday afternoon at Forest Hills High School.
Maura Brehl had 12 kills for the Mountain Cats, who slipped to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC Central Division.

After dropping the first two sets 25-19 and 25-15, Pitt-Johnstown responded with a 25-15 win of its own. However, West Chester fell behind early in the fourth set, but rallied for a 25-17 to close it out.

Nicki Yates' kill gave West Chester an early 8-4 lead in the opening set and the Golden Rams led wire-to-wire in the 25-19 win. Pitt-Johnstown got a kill from
Maura Brehl to cut it to 11-9, but West Chester extended it to 17-11 on a Mountain Cat attack error, before Karleigh Lutz's kill, followed by another Pitt-Johnstown ended it.

In the second set, five straight West Chester errors gave the Mountain Cats an 8-5 advantage, but the Golden Rams went on to outscore Pitt-Johnstown, 20-7, the rest of the way. Six straight points put West Chester up by three and Lutz's kill pushed it out to 17-11. The Golden Rams closed out the 20-7 run on Amy Kovac's kill to take a two-set lead.

Pitt-Johnstown bounced back with a 25-15 win in the third set. The Mountain Cats jumped out to a 16-11 lead and got a service ace from
Coco Kordenbrock and a
Caitlin Vrabel kill to narrow the gap to 2-sets-to-1.

However, West Chester erased a three-point deficit early in the final set to end the match with the 25-17 victory. The Golden Rams tied it at 13, then took their first lead on Abbie Dischert's kill. West Chester never trailed again. Another kill from Lutz built the lead to five, before a Pitt-Johnstown attack error and Lutz's kill finished it.

Along with Brehl's 12 kills,
Kendall Mahony had eight kills and a block for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Marissa Erminio had five kills and 16 digs, while
Cambria Wierman added five kills and 11 digs, and Vrabel had five kills and a block.

Allison Mondorff collected 21 set assists and 13 digs, and
J.C. Longeville chipped-in 13 assists, six digs, and an ace.Â
Devan Orr led the Mountain Cats with 17 digs.

Dischert's match-high 13 kills led four West Chester players who finished in double figures in kills. Lutz (11 kills), Allie Duffy (10 kills), and Peyton Wright (10 kills) also had double-digit kills for the Golden Rams, who improved to 13-4 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC Southeastern Division.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC matches at Lock Haven on Tuesday and East Stroudsburg and Kutztown next weekend, before hosting conference matches against Shippensburg on October 20 and Millersville on October 21.
