#6 Wrestlers Open PSAC-Schedule with 24-10 Home Victory Over#23 Kutztown

4878The sixth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers broke open a tied match with five consecutive victories, including second-ranked Tyler Reinhart's (165 lbs.) second period technical fall, on its way to a 24-10, PSAC-opening victory over No. 23 Kutztown University, Friday night in the Sports Center.  The Mountain Cats are now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.
 
Freshman Matt Siszka got Pitt-Johnstown going with a solid 8-4 win over Anthony Petril at 125 lbs., but Kutztown's Lucas Miller's defeated Sam Holdandez, 8-3, at 133 lbs. to even the score.
 
The Mountain Cats began to take control and got back-to-back decision wins to regain the lead.  At 141 lbs. fifth-ranked Chris Eddins earned a 7-1 win over Jae Jones, and Corey Falleroni followed with a 6-3 victory over Chad Haegele to go in front 9-3.
 
Second-ranked Cody Law made it three straight wins by decision with his 7-4 victory over Mikey O'Brien at 157 lbs., before 11th-ranked Devin Austin broke the streak with his 12-4 major decision at 165 lbs. that increased the Pitt-Johnstown lead to 16-3.
 
The Mountain Cats pushed it out 21-3 with Reinhart's dominating 17-2 technical fall just 18 seconds into the second period over James Meyer in the 174-lb. bout.
 
Kutztown narrowed the gap 21-7 at 184 lbs. when seventh-ranked Jeff Reimel dealt Brodie Englert a 10-0 major decision loss.
 
After No. 11 Levi Niebauer's 6-3 win at 184 lbs. that got Pitt-Johnstown's lead up to 25-7 and set up the match between 11th-ranked D.J. Sims and Kutztown's fifth-ranked Ryan Applyby at 285 lbs.  Sims cut it to 3-2 in the second period, but Appleby was able to hold Sims' off for a 5-3 win and set the final at 24-10.
 
With the loss, Kutztown is now 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC match at East Stroudsburg on Tuesday and to a non-conference match at 11th-ranked Ashland (OH) on December 2.  The Mountain Cats will wrestle their next home match on January 20 at 7 p.m. against Wheeling Jesuit (WV).
