The Pitt-Johnstown Women's soccer team got an own goal in the first minute of overtime to secure its first ever PSAC victory with a 2-1, season-opening, win at Indiana (PA), Thursday afternoon.
Since joining the PSAC prior to the 2013 season, Head Coach Rachel Gironda's Mountain Cats recorded a pair of ties, but Thursday marked the program's first conference victory.
Pitt-Johnstown opened the scoring on
Kyra Watkins' penalty kick goal in the 58
th minute, but IUP's answered six minutes later when Kallie Conte finished Gianna Parlavecchio's assist to even the score.
Neither team was able to score during the remainder of regulation, but just 32 seconds into the extra period, a ball bounced off of IUP's Kris Baumgartner and found the back of the net to wrap-up the win.

Pitt-Johnstown goaltender
Leigh Appolonia earned the win in net after holding the Crimson Hawks to just one goal on 17 shots. Appolonia also made four saves.
Madeline Smakulski took the loss for IUP after allowing a pair of goals on six Pitt-Johnstown shots. Smakulski made three saves.
Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2017 home debut with a PSAC match against Mansfield on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before hosting a conference match against California (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
