After allowing three goals in the first 22 minutes, the Mountain Cat men's soccer team answered with second half goals from
John Knox and
D.J. Vogelman, but were unable to score the equalizer in a 3-2 loss to Gannon University in Wednesday's PSAC-opener at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats slipped to 0-2-1 overall 0-1-0 in the PSAC.
Gannon opened the scoring six minutes in on a George Stannard free kick from the top of the box, before Mathias Krigbaum's chip over Mountain Cat goalkeeper
Nate Kleya made it 2-0 four minutes later.
The Golden Knights increased it to 3-0 in the 22
nd minute on Luis Driemel's header off of Alex Lee Yaw's corner kick, but Pitt-Johnstown settled down and held Gannon scoreless the rest of the way.

The Mountain Cats got on the scoreboard in the 58
th minute after Knox finished a scramble in the box, and Vogleman narrowed the gap to 3-2 on a penalty kick with just under nine minutes remaining in regulation, but that was as close as Pitt-Johnstown could get.
