Roberts Wesleyan Downs Mountain Cats, 4-1 in Non-Conference-Play

Rochester, NY

4598Roberts Wesleyan (NY) University opened-up a 3-1 halftime lead and went on to a 4-1 non-conference victory over the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team, Wednesday night in Rochester, NY.  Alex Laslavic scored his first career goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which dropped to 0-7-1 on the season.
 
Juan Ospina-Betancurt gave Roberts Wesleyan an early 1-0 lead five minutes in when he scored on a ball mishandled by Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Nate Kleya.
 
The Mountain Cats answered to tie it in the 14th minute on Laslavic's shot from 18 yards out that curled into the top right corner of the net, but the Redhawks came right back to regain the lead two minutes later on a Marko Mitrevski goal from inside the box.
 
Roberts Wesleyan added another goal in the 29th minute to take a 3-1 halftime advantage.  After Logan Wood's shot was saved by Kleya, Barrington Smith finished the rebound to extend the Redhawks' lead to a pair.
 
Terrance Spencer then tacked on a goal seven minutes into the second half that set the final at 4-1.
 
Kleya suffered the loss for the Mountain Cats after facing 21 shots and making eight saves.
 
John Ciavaglia got the win in goal for Roberts Wesleyan to help the Redhawks improve to 3-6-0 on the season.  Ciavaglia saw just thee Pitt-Johnstown shots, allowed one goal and made one save.
 
The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC match against Slippery Rock at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before traveling to a conference match at Shippensburg on October 7.
