
Goldey-Beacom (DE) scored six goals in the first 36 minutes and went on to deal the Mountain Cat soccer team a 7-0 non-conference loss, Thursday afternoon in Wilmington, DE. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 0-1-1.
Goldey-Beacom opened the scoring one minute into the match when Fernando Sanchez finished a rebound off of Mountain Cat goalkeeper
Nate Kleya, before Chahin Aghrim scored off of another rebound in the 16
th minute.
The Lightning the added a pair of goals less than a minute apart in the 21
st and 22
nd minutes to increase the lead to 4-0, and Callum Flynn and Darian Munoz followed with goals to put Goldey-Beacom in front 6-0 at the half.
Pitt-Johnstown held Goldey-Beacom to just one goal in the second half, when Ethan Maguire tapped in a corner kick in the 65
th minute.
Kleya, who faced 39 Lightning shots, played all 90 minutes in goal for Pitt-Johnstown and made 13 saves.
Suhail Bismilla played the first half in net for Goldey-Beacom and did not face a shot. Cole Lewis and Pablo Lodono shared time in goal in the second half and each made one save.
With the win, the Lightning improved to 2-1-1 to start the season.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to open PSAC-play with conference matches against Gannon on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and Lock Haven on September 16 at noon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
