Eddins, Edwards, and Sims Lead No. 11 Mountain Cats to 38-3 PSAC Victory Over Gannon

Sims each defeated All-Americans, and Steve Edwards pinned National Qualifier Jake Stratton in the first period to led the 11th-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers to a lopsided 38-3 PSAC win over Gannon University, Friday night in the sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown improved to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown got off to a strong start.  At 125 lbs., Brendan Howard took down Jacob Dunlap with five seconds left in the first overtime period to earn a 9-7 win, and Sam Holandez pinned Leroy Oglesby at 4:25 to put the Mountain cats in front 9-0.
 
Eddins, ranked fourth at 141 lbs., held a slim 1-0 lead over 2017 All-American Carmine Ciotti with time running down in the third period, but was hit with a stalling call that forced overtime.  Eddins got a takedown 18 seconds into the extra period to earn a 3-1 victory.
 
4880Corey Falleroni built a 9-2 second-period advantage over George McGuire in the 149-lb. bout on his way to a 12-2 major decision, before second-ranked Cody Law pushed it out to 21-0 midway through the match with a 21-6 technical fall at 6:37 over Giovanni Ciotti at 157 lbs.
 
After Devin Austin secured a 13-5 major decision win at 165 lbs. and Edwards came out and pinned 2017 National Qualifier Jake Stratton at 2:07 to increase the Mountain lead to 31-0.
 
Gannon got on the scoreboard and cut it to 31-3 at 184 lbs. with 2017 National Qualifier and 10th-ranked Nick Costa's 9-3 win over Jake Driskel, but Pitt-Johnstown answered right back when seventh-ranked Levi Niebauer dealt Brad Crislip a 10-2 major decision loss at 197 lbs.
 
Sims then closed out the 38-3 victory by holding off All-American and No. 7-ranked Nick Budd, 3-2, at 285 lbs.

With the loss, the Golden Knights slipped to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against Millersville on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.  The Mountain Cats will then close out the regular season at Shippensburg on February 6, before hosting Mercyhurst for Senior Night on February 9 at 7 p.m.
