Isaac Vescovi scored a game-high 29 points and
Dale Clancy added 18 points, but Pitt-Johnstown suffered its second straight conference loss following Saturday's narrow, 73-69, setback to Gannon University in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats fell to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in conference-play.

For the first 12 minutes, Gannon and Pitt-Johnstown alternated buckets until Joe Fustine knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Golden Knights a 19-14 lead. The Mountain Cats quickly responded on a 7-0 run capped by
Isaac Vescovi 3-pointer, to regain the lead by two with 6:47 left in the half.

Gannon scored the next nine points, including back-to-back baskets by Jair Green and Damon Miraud, before Vescovi's jumper at 4:47 got Pitt-Johnstown back to within five at it 28-23. In the final 90 seconds of the first half, Gannon went on a mini 5-0 run and got a basket and free-throw as time expired to give Gannon a 35-29 halftime advantage. Frank Webb's layup 4:33 into the second half gave the Golden Knights their largest lead of the game at 43-35, before the Mountain Cats battled back and tied it up at 51, then regain the lead 53-51 on a pair of Vescovi free-throws with 9:04 left.

However, that was the last time Pitt-Johnstown would hold the lead. The Golden Knights responded with an 8-0 run to go in front on Joe Fustine's basket 59-53 with 5:45 left in the game.

With two minutes left, Clancy knocked down a 3-pointer to make it 63-61

After Gannon got its lead back out to seven with 49 seconds remaining, Clancy hit another 3-pointer to make it 68-64.

On the next possession, the Golden Knights answered with a jumper from Green jumper to extend it back out to six. Pitt-Johnstown made it 70-69 when Clancy found Masua in the paint for an easy two, with 10 seconds remaining.

The Mountain Cats quickly fouled Matt Johnson, who made the front end of the 1-and-1. On the miss
Josh Wise grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Miraud with 8 seconds remaining. Wise had a chance to tie the game but missed both free throws. Gannon sealed the game after Fustine converted both free-throws with just six seconds left.

Along with Vescovi and Clancy, Pitt-Johnstown also got seven points and a game-high nine rebounds from Masua and six points and five rebounds from
Olando King, Jr. and Wise.

Clancy currently stands in 17
th-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List (1,196 points), fourth on the assists list (446), and sixth on the 3-point field goals list (184). Vescovi is 22
nd-place on the Pitt-Johnstown Scoring List with 1,083 points.

The Mountain Cats shot 46.2% (24-52) from the field, but only 25% (5-20) from behind the arc. Gannon shot 45.3% (29-64) and 21.4% (3-14) from behind the a 3-point line. Pitt-Johnstown was 16-21 from the free-throw line, while the Golden Knights shot 12-17 from the charity stripe. Gannon also grabbed 19 offensive rebounds on its way to outrebounding the Mountain Cats 40-29.

Greer's 21 points and seven rebounds led Gannon, which improved to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC. Â The Golden Knights also got 15 points and nine rebounds from Fustine off the bench and 12 points from Zay Jackson.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to conference games at Edinboro University on Monday and California University (PA) on Wednesday, before hosting a PSAC doubleheader with the women's team on Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center.
