Maura Brehl's had a match-high 21 kills and 29 digs to lead four Mountain Cats who finished in double figures in kills and help Pitt-Johnstown earn a 15-13 win in the fifth set to end Shippensburg's 15-match winning streak, Tuesday night in Shippensburg. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC Central Division.
Pitt-Johnstown got off to a quick start and built a three-point lead on
Anna Johns' and
Noelle Carota's block, but Shippensburg scored five of the next six to go in front on a Gabriella Johnson kill and Morgan DeFloria's ace. After another block from Carota knotted it at 11, the Raiders used an 11-3 run to push the lead out to 22-14 on Kendall Johnson's kill. Pitt-Johnstown followed with kills from
Tatiana Pitcher and Vrabel to pull to within five, but Shippensburg was able to take the set, 25-16.

Johns' kill gave the Mountain Cats a 6-3 advantage to begin the second set. Shippensburg came back to take an 8-6 lead, but Pitt-Johnstown answered with a 16-7 run, capped by kills from Brehl and Carota, to go in front 22-15. Shippensburg stormed back with seven straight points to tie it at 22 on another kill from Gabriella Johnson. It went to extra points and the Mountain Cats got a kill from Brehl and a Shippensburg attack error to even the match with a 27-25 victory.
Three more kills from Johns and one from Pitcher in the early going of the third set gave Pitt-Johnstown a 7-4 lead. Shippensburg was able to tie it at seven, but the Mountain Cats never trailed and extended it to 19-13 with a kill from Brehl and a block from Johns. The Raiders responded again. This time to narrow it to 23-22, but Pitt-Johnstown was able to hold on for the 25-22 win on kills by Vrabel and Brehl.

Looking to close out the match in four sets, the Mountain Cats got a kill from Carota to climb out to an 11-7 lead, before Gianna Sigado and Kendall Johnson kills gave the Raiders a 14-13 lead. Shippensburg kept control and made it 23-17 on two straight Mountain Cat attack errors, before forcing a fifth set with a 25-18 win on Samantha Webber's kill.
In the race to 15, Shippensburg jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but the Mountain Cats battled back to retake the lead 10-9 on Carota's ace. It remained close. With Pitt-Johnstown holding a slim 13-12 advantage, the Mountain Cats got kills from Vrabel and Carota to seal the 15-13 victory.
Along with Brehl, Pitt-Johnstown also got 16 kills, 14 digs, and three blocks from Carota, 13 kills from Vrabel, and 11 kills and six blocks from Johns. Pitcher also had five kills for the Mountain Cats.

Longeville finished with a match-high 56 set assists and 11 digs, while
Erin Carmody collected a match-high 30 digs for Pitt-Johnstown.
Gabriella Johnson had 19 kills and 18 digs to lead Shippensburg, which slipped to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC Central. Webber (16 kills), DeFloria (14 kills), and Kendall Johnson (12 kills) also had double-digit kills for the Raiders.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host PSAC matches against Millersville on Friday at 7 p.m. and West Chester on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
