
The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team bounced back from Friday's loss with a hard fought, four set PSAC victory at Mercyhurst that featured extra points in the first three sets.
Maura Brehl had a match-high 22 kills and
Grace Miller added 12 kills to pace the Mountain Cats, who improved to 14-11 overall and 8-5 in the PSAC Central Division.
Pitt-Johnstown took the opening set 29-27, before Mercyhurst evened the match with a 26-24 win. However, the Mountain Cats answered with another 29-27 victory in the third set, the closed out the match with a 25-22 win.
Brehl finished with a match-high 22 kills, 12 digs and three blocks, and Miller had a dozen kills for Pitt-Johnstown. The Mountain Cats also got 10 kills and four blocks from
Caitlin Vrabel, nine kills and 14 digs from
Noelle Carota, and eight kills and six blocks from
Anna Johns.

J.C. Longville's match-high 56 set assists and 10 digs led the way for Pitt-Johnstown, while
Erin Carmody and
Hailey Mackenthun collected 22 and 11 digs, respectively.
Mercyhurst, which fell to 9-17 overall and 4-9 in the PSAC Northwest Division, was led by Katie Baird's 20 kills. Shelby Chesko tallied 15 kills and Alyssa Zirnheld had 12 kills for the Lakers.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host PSAC matches against Edinboro on Friday at 7 p.m. and Slippery Rock on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center, before celebrating Senior Night with a conference match against Shippensburg on October 30 at 7 p.m.
