The Pitt-Johnstown women's volleyball team will close out its regular season home schedule with a PSAC match against Shippensburg, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
Pitt-Johnstown, winners of three consecutive PSAC matches and in second-place in the PSAC Central Division, comes in at 16-11 overall and 10-5 in conference-play following a weekend sweep of Edinboro and Slippery Rock in the Sports Center.
On Friday,
Maura Brehl had a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs and
Noelle Carota added 11 kills and 10 digs in the Mountain Cats' four-set win over the Fighting Scots. Pitt-Johnstown followed that up by sweeping Slippery Rock on Saturday behind Brehl's 18 kills and
Anna Johns' 13 kills.
PSAC Central-leading Shippensburg, under 15
th-year Head Coach Leanne Piscotty, also swept a pair of conference games from Slippery Rock and Edinboro last week. Kendall Johnson had 10 kills and five blocks, and Samantha Webber had seven kills and six blocks in a 3-sets-to-1 win over The Rock on Friday. The Raiders the dealt Edinboro a four-set loss on Saturday. Morgan DeFloria tallied 16 kills and Gabriella Johnson chipped-in 11 kills in the win over the Fighting Scots.
The Mountain Cats and Raiders met in Shippensburg on October 2 and Pitt-Johnstown held on for a five-set victory. Brehl (22 kills), Carota (16 kills),
Caitlin Vrabel (13 kills), and Johns (11 kills) all finished with double-digit kills for the Mountain Cats, while Gabriella Johnson (19 kills), Webber (16 kills), DeFloria (14 kills), and Kendall Johnson (12 kills) had double-digit kills from Shippensburg.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the regular season with PSAC matches at Bloomsburg on Friday and at Lock Haven on Saturday, before beginning postseason-play in the PSAC Tournament on November 6.
