
Four straight PSAC Central Athlete of the Week
Maura Brehl collected a match-high 22 kills and
Noelle Carota added 13 kills to guide the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 conference sweep at Bloomsburg on Friday. The Mountain Cats, who secured a spot in next week's PSAC tournament, improved to 17-12 overall and 11-6 in conference-play.
Three kills apiece from Brehl and Carota and back-to-bask service aces by
Erin Carmody helped Pitt-Johnstown climb out to a 10-4 first set lead. Bloomsburg came back with a 9-3 run to even it at 13 on Sarah Gomish's ace and a Mountain Cat attack error, but Pitt-Johnstown never gave up the lead and outscored the Huskies, 9-4, down the stretch to seal the 25-20 win on three straight kills from Brehl.
Two straight aces by Alyssa Cianciulli gave Bloomsburg an early 9-3 lead in the second set, before the Mountain Cats cut it to 10-7 on
J.C. Longeville's ace and a Huskies' error. Bloomsburg extended it to 15-7 on Molly Prior's kill and a Pitt-Johnstown attack error. However, the Mountain Cats stormed back with a 17-5 run to take the set, 25-20. Brehl's 15
th kill in the first two sets tied it at 19 and another kill by Brehl and one from Carota ended it.

It was all Mountain Cats in the final set.
Anna Johns' kill gave Pitt-Johnstown a six-point lead, before Carota's kill increased it to 20-12. Pitt-Johnstown went on to close out the 25-17 victory with a kill by
Tatiana Pitcher.
Brehl finished with a match-high 22 kills, six digs, and a block, while Carota had 13 kills and five digs to pace Pitt-Johnstown.
Caitlin Vrabel and Johns each had five kills.
Longeville tallied a match-high 47 set assists and two service aces, and Carmody and
Hailey Mackenthun had 13 and 10 digs, respectively for the Mountain Cats.
Bloomsburg was led by Gomish's six kills and three blocks and Mary Kate Mooney's six kills. The Huskies, who fell to 6-21 overall and 2-15 in the PSAC Central Division, also got four kills and a match-high five blocks from Grace Giza.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Lock Haven for a PSAC match on Saturday to close out the regular before opening the PSAC Tournament on Tuesday against an opponent and at a site to be determined.
