The sixth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers used falls from sixth-ranked Joey Alessandro at 141 lbs. and fourth-ranked Chris Eddins at 149 lbs. to build a 12-point lead and went on to a 23-15 PSAC victory at Kutztown on Tuesday.  The Mountain Cats improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC.
 
After Brendan Howard dealt Joe Renne a 6-1 loss at 125 lbs. to give the Mountain Cats an early lead, Kutztown quickly tied it at 3 with Lucas Miller's 9-4 decision over Lucas O'Connor at 133 lbs.
 
The Mountain Cats made it 9-3 when Alessandro pinned Anthony Petril at 3:48 in the 141-lb. bout, before Eddins extended the lead to 15-3 with a fall over Jake Jones at 4:42 at 149 lbs.
 
At 157 lbs., The Golden Bears' Chad Haegele earned an 8-4 decision over Corey Falleroni, and Mikey O'Brien upset Pitt-Johnstown's fifth-ranked Devin Austin, 4-3 at 165 lbs., to narrow the Kutztown gap to 15-9.
 
Pitt-Johnstown pushed its lead to 18-9 with a 9-3 decision by Brock Biddle over James Meyer at 174 lbs., but No. 1-ranked Jeff Reimel kept Kutztown's hopes alive by holding off Mike Geyer, 7-4, at 184 lbs.
 
However, the Mountain Cats closed it out at 197 lbs.  Fifth-ranked Levi Niebauer raced out to an 11-2 first period lead over Matt Lewandowski and earned a 19-2 technical fall at 3:57 to put the match out of reach at 23-12.
 
Kutztown set the final at 23-15 with a 5-2 decision by No. 10 Andrew Dunn, Jr. over Tyler Oliver at 285 lbs.
 
With the loss, the Golden Bears fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 inj the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to host 13^th ranked Ashland (OH) on December 1 at 3 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to the 2018 PSAC Championships in Kutztown on December 8.
