
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats women's basketball team defeated Millersville University, 62-58, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center for their second win in as many nights.
Offensively, Pitt-Johnstown was led by
Alli McGrath's 21 Points, four rebounds and three assists. The Mountain Cats improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West. Millersville falls to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play
The Mountain Cats opened up a 37-24 lead heading into halftime thanks to McGrath pouring in 19 points on 8-14 shooting from the field and 3-7 from behind the arc.
The third quarter belonged to the Millersville Marauders. With 1:06 remaining in the third quarter, Courtney Dimoff knocked down a jumper to erase the Mountain Cats 13-point lead.
Pitt-Johnstown regained the lead on their first possession of the fourth quarter thanks to a
Gabrielle Smith layup. With 3:11 remaining in the game,
Tori Moreland converted on the old fashioned three-point play to give the Mountain Cats a 54-52 lead.
With 44 seconds remaining in the game, Lauren Lister hit a pair of free throws to Bring Millersville within 1, before Smith iced the game away with 15 seconds remaining.
Smith scored nine of her 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Tori Moreland ended the night with eight points and five rebounds.
Millersville's Lister and Dimoff combined to score 50 of Millersville's 58 points on the night.
The Mountain Cats return to action Jan. 2 when they host Clarion University, before traveling to take on Indiana (Pa.) University Jan. 5.
